New Series of Canon Laser Printers Enhance Productivity in Modern Offices
Five new A4 printers with rapid print speeds, double-sided printing and versatile connectivity
SINGAPORE, 29 October 2024 — Canon today announced the launch of its newest laser printer series, which consists of two monochrome printers – imageCLASS LBP171dn, LBP172dw, and three monochrome multifunction laser printers – imageCLASS MF284dw (Print, Scan, Copy), MF286dn, and MF289dw (Print, Scan, Copy, Fax). These new printers are specially designed to meet the needs of small offices and workgroups in large enterprises.
Boost Productivity and Streamline Efficiency
Equipped with On-Demand Fixing technology, the printer warms up quickly and delivers the first printout in just 5.0 seconds1, a useful feature when users only need to print 2 to 3 pages at one time. The printers can also print stacks of documents at an impressive print speed of up to 33 pages per minute (ppm)2, making them ideal for an office environment.
Designed with efficiency and eco-friendliness in mind, all printers support two-sided printing, reducing paper usage and minimising environmental impact.
For the multifunction imageCLASS MF280 series, it comes with more features to streamline office tasks. In addition to flatbed scanning, the printers in this series have an auto document feeder (ADF) to cater for automated scanning of documents with multiple pages effectively. With imageCLASS MF286dn and MF289dw, the scanned information can be uploaded directly to a shared folder or shared with other users via email, thus facilitating easy document management and collaboration.
Intuitive Operation and Easy Maintenance
The imageCLASS LBP170 series and MF280 series are equipped with a 5-line LCD, or 6-line3 Touchscreen LCD with vari-angle operation panel for better viewing. Alert messages and guided instructions are displayed on screen when simple troubleshooting is needed, making the printers effortless to operate, manage and maintain.
The all-in-one toner cartridge design further simplifies the replacement process and reduces downtime, ensuring consistent print quality and easy maintenance. In addition to the standard yield of up to 1,400 pages4, users have the option to select the higher yield option of up to 4,100 pages4 to meet their printing needs, thus lowering the cost per page and reducing the frequency of the toner cartridge replacement.
Seamless Connectivity and Enhanced Security
Wireless connectivity is also available on the imageCLASS LBP172dw, MF284dw, MF289dw. This feature enhances productivity and convenience by enabling printing from multiple devices without the need for cables. Additionally, the availability of TLS 1.3, IEEE 802.1X, and Verify System at Startup on these printers provide some advantages to IT security administrators in ensuring robust network security as protection from security threats. Users can also print directly from their smart devices via compatible print solutions like Canon PRINT, Canon Print Service, AirPrint® and Mopria® Print Service.

1 First print out time is measured based on internal test procedure and may vary. When the printer is in the ready state, this is the time from receiving the print instruction from the controller to printing one sheet and finishing paper ejection.
